Description
Located on the banks of the historic French Broad River. This quaint new cottage is a little home away from home with all the conveniences. The eight-by-24-foot covered porch with swing and rocking chairs allow comfortable viewing of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Early mornings are blissful as you watch dawn break and the mist over the river lift revealing the water rippling along the banks.
The cottage is tastefully decorated and is described by guests as simply adorable. The small kitchen provides all the conveniences of home. The bedroom has a king-sized bed with an extra special mattress. The bath is equipped with a tub shower and can accommodate those with special physical challenges. The family room has a very comfortable couch and chair and a satellite TV with DVD player and VCR and we can provide a great selection of movies at no extra cost. We also can provide a wide selection of games for those who enjoy board games.
The out of doors experience on the estate is so beautiful, serene, and tranquil it is difficult to describe. This is a must-see experience. Our guests are overwhelmed at the peacefulness they experience on this very special place. The most common comment is "pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this estate". The primary residence is 112 years old and gladly shown by appointment.
Outdoor activities abound. If you enjoy tossing a lure into the water and fishing under the shade of the river trees, a special private area is available for guests. Perhaps lounging in the hammock watching the river go by is more to your liking. We have a lovely gazebo to enjoy a moment of contemplative solitude, or a romantic evening. Several outdoor games are available to guests as well as gas grill, charcoal grill, bon fire pit, and picnic tables. During certain times of the year, various fruit trees are dripping with delicious fruit we encourage guests to enjoy. If you enjoy animals, we have many farm friends to enjoy: Mr. Donkey, Baby the mule, Figgy the piggy, several miniature horses, cats and dogs. Our Ladies, the chickens, contribute the eggs for the breakfasts which we deliver to the cottage each morning at your requested time.
If you are interested in our special "be paid to play" program, please ask. This is a program for those who wish to participate in several farm tasks each day.
We extend a welcome and invitation for you to visit us on the farm and you will see why we have so many families return each year. Please come visit us for a dose of old Southern hospitality!
