Description
Central northern lower Michigan less than one mile off 1-75 on the beautiful Big Bradford Lake 70 miles south of the Mackinaw Bridge and three and a half hours north of Detroit, the cottage is approximately 15 miles north of Grayling and 10 miles south of Gaylord in the small town of Waters. In Waters you can be served by a small grocery store, restaurant, a bar, and a gas station.
Includes three bedrooms, fire pit, dock, VCR, cable TV, complete kitchen (stove, refrigerator, microwave. coffee maker, etc.) and two double beds, and one set of bunk beds . Windows surround the living room and provide a wonderful view of the lake. Professionally cleaned after each visit and includes bed linens and bath towels. Please bring your own beach towels. The cottage has a water's edge fire pit (limited amount of wood), patio table with chairs, and a sandy bottom swim area. The cabin does not rent with a boat- please bring your own. No pets are allowed and the cabin is smoke free.
Big Bradford Lake: With depths reaching over 100 feet, this all sports spring fed lake is truly one of the best-kept secrets in northern Michigan. Its 230 surface acres have a maximum depth of 103 feet and average 65 feet deep with underwater visibility reaching 25 feet (so don't forget your snorkeling gear). The one and a quarter mile west shoreline is all hardwood forest with only three undetectable cabins along its entire length. The perch and small mouth bass fishing are as good as it gets with pike, bluegills, rock bass, largemouth bass, and a few walleyes and rainbow trout that inhabit the lake. The lake also supports a nesting pair of eagles and loons. Big Bradford Lake is the headwaters of the main branch of the AuSable River and is dammed at its outlet maintaining a nearly constant elevation of 1230 feet above sea level. Due to its depth a swim in the lake is always refreshing and the adventurous ones will enjoy dropping off the rope swing in the middle of the uninhabited west shoreline. Other wildlife calling the Big Bradford Lake area their home include ducks, geese, deer, raccoons, porcupines, and an occasional coyote, fox and black bear. The lake association has set up quiet hours (no high speed boating) between 7:30 PM and 11 AM which allows for plenty of time to play during the day and the opportunity to awaken to the unmistakable calling of the loons in the morning. |
